Your calendar elements are directly in #alpha and are not encased in an .entry container. There are two main sections for your calendar: The list of year links for every year that you have posts, and the month calendars for the currently selected year beneath it. The .active class is for the year you're currently viewing; by default it's the most recent year with posts.
